Is FarmFoods halal-labelled meat halal?
FarmFoods have a halal range of poultry by 'Seara' and 'Qualiko'.
'Seara' state that they utilise both hand slaughter & mechanical slaughter. Mechanical slaughter is not approved by us and as such this product in our view is 'doubtful', so we do not regard this product as halal as per our procedures. As stated on their website www.searainternational.com/halal-certification:
'We utilise manual slaughter performed by Muslim slaughtermen, supervised by a Muslim supervisor, as well as mechanical slaughter, also supervised by a Muslim'
Regarding 'Qualiko', products, their Ukrainian halal certificate certifies to Gulf Standards of slaughter (GSO 993:2015) which allow machine slaughter. As such we regard these products as mashbooh (doubtful) and uncertain as to whether they are halal to our standards.

Is MacDonalds Halal?
McDondalds in the UK is not halal certified and they appear to have no intention of serving halal food. They fry and handle all haram meat products and as such the risk of cross-contamination for the Muslim consumer is considered too high, even though there are stringent rules to prevent this. As such, fish and fries should be considered mashbooh (doubtful) and avoided.
The kitchens also regularly filter their oils and this would be an issue for halal integrity, especially if the same filters and vats are used for the oil for fries and other meat products.
There is also the issue of boycotting certain brands which Muslims need to consider.
Are Halal Restaurants Halal?
Restaurants that are certified halal can be trusted provided they are certified by a trustworthy, independent certifier.
Are halal foods sold in major supermarkets halal?
Check the websites of each supplier to ensure that are certified by credible halal bodies
Can we eat mechanically slaughtered Chicken?
There is no Ijma' for this type of slaughter to be halal, although certain Gulf standards accept this. All chciken must be hand slaughtered with tasmiyyah & takbir read upon each and every animal.
